How to Manage Burden In Life

Bookmark and Share

Not the burden that makes us stressed, but it's how long we carry the burden.

While giving lecture about stress management, Stephen Covey lifted up a glass of water and asked the students, "In your opinion, how heavy is this glass of water?"

The students gave him answer from 200gr to 500gr.

"Well, it is not the problem of the absolute weight, but it depends on how long have you hold it", said Covey.

"If I hold it for 1 minute, there won't be any problem. If I hold it for 1 hour, my right arm will get pain. And if I hold it for 1 full day, perhaps you have to call an ambulance for me. The absolute weight is the same, but the longer I hold it, the heavier the burden is."

"If we carry our burden all the time, soon or later we will not be able to carry it anymore. The burden will increase in weight", Covey continued his lecture. "What we need to do is to put down the glass, take a rest for a while before we lift it up again."

We have to leave our burden periodically, so that we will be fresher and have the ability to continue carrying it again.

So, before knocking off work, leave your burden aside. Do not bring it home. The burden can be carried again the next morning. Whatever burden that you shoulder today, try to leave it off for a while if possible. After taking a rest, you can get back to it again.

Life is short, try to enjoy it and make full use of it...!!

The most beautiful and the best thing in the world is something that you cannot see, or touch, but you can feel it deep inside your heart.
