As a lesson to me, do prepare an umbrella before raining !
Jakarta, other than being famous for the traffic jam, is also recognized as the flooding city. Certain parts of Jakarta is very prone to flood. Even the international airport Soekarno-Hatta is not exempted from this misfortune. I have always heard and seen from TV that when it rains for at least one day, we can see that flood will attact the city. It seems that a lot of people know the reason behind it, e.g. poor drainage system, overcrowded building development, littering, etc. However it is a pity that no one really does anything to it and so do the powerful people sitting on the hot seat.
Last february, it was raining for days in Jakarta. I was all ready to go back to Indo to celebrate new year. However, just the night before the flight, my girlfriend called and told me that the airport was flooded. I was stunned. How could the so-called international airport be flooded? Where is the so-called international standard?
Nervous! I asked my friend if there are any alternative routes to get out of the airport. To my surprise, only few of my friends know it and they were also not very sure about the exact route.
To cut this story short, I managed to come out of the airport through the alternative route. Poor my dad & brother, they were really struggling to fetch me.
So in this article, I would like to share with you the map of the alternative route to/from Soekarno-Hatta International airport in Jakarta. May this map serves its purpose and benefits us and our loved-ones.
